We want our customers to feel 100% comfortable buying sound effects from our site, so within 30 days we will re-credit your account for any sound that you don't end up using. If you can't successfully import the sound into your project, if you are unable to successfully download your sound, or if you - for any reason - simply don't end up using the sound you purchased, please contact us within 30 days and let us know. We will re-credit your account for your purchase, and the Credits will then be available in your account for future purchases.
Access to the weekly Free Sound Effects are provided from within your user account. Create a free user account with us, log in, and you will see "Free Downloads" as one of the options in your user area. 5 new free sounds are made available each week, so be sure to come back once per week to download the free sounds.
Browse or search our sound effects library using our website, and put items in your shopping cart by clicking the "Add to shopping cart" button. Once you have all the sounds you want to buy in your Cart, then go to the Cart / Checkout page where you'll be prompted to either Log in, or to Register as a new user. You then pay through either Paypal or Worldpay (major credit cards accepted). After payment, you will immediately find the purchased sounds available for download from the "My Downloads" page in your User Profile area.
With some websites offering free WAV files for download, you may ask yourself why you should pay $2 for something that you can arguably download for free somewhere else?
Generally speaking, you could consider the prices listed on this site as US$ prices. If you see a sound priced at 1.99, you will be able to buy this sound for US$ 1.99. And so on.
However, you may also buy a larger amount of Credits for a discounted price, so that you can "stock up" on some Credits to make your purchase process quicker and easier next time. Let's say you invest in 50 Credits. You'll be able to buy these 50 Credits for US$ 45.00, so you've saved some money. And what's more, now that you have 50 Credits on your account, you can buy a sound much quicker next time, as the amount you're spending is simply withdrawn from your Credits account, and you don't have to go through a payment process each time.
Purchased sound files are available for you to download instantly after purchase. There is no waiting time, and you do not need to receive any email from us. After purchase, go to My Profile and from there click on My Downloads. There you will find your purchased files, ready to download. Our site also sends out an automated email to you with instructions on how to download.
We do not decide where on your computer a downloaded file will end up. This is a setting that is made on your computer and it is outside of our control. If you can't find a file after you've downloaded it, look in your web browser's "Settings", "Tools" or "Options" pages and look for a setting that determines where downloaded files will be stored.
In Mozilla Firefox, click on the "Open Menu" link in the top right corner, from there click the "Options" icon. On the "General" page you will see "Downloads" and it's settings.
In Google Chrome, click on the Open Meny link in the top right hand corner, from there click "Settings". Near the bottom of the Settings page, click "Show advanced settings". Find the "Downloads" heading, where you can see / change where downloaded files are stored on your computer.
In Internet Explorer / Edge, there is no actual screen or setting but files downloaded with Internet Explorer usually end up in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder which can be found under C:\Documents and Settings\(Your name)\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.
If some sounds work OK for you, but other sounds don't work, don't play, or won't import into your application - then it's probably because those sounds are in too high resolution / too high bit depth or sample rate, for your application to handle.
Most of the sounds we have that were created before 2007 are sold in 16-bit format, but sounds that were created from about 2007 onwards were recorded and mastered in 24-bit audio, and some are in 44.1-Khz sample rate, whilst others are in 48-Khz or even 96-Khz resolution. Because of the higher bit-rate, they sound better. They have more depth and clarity than the trusty old "CD-quality" format. However, some applications may not be able to handle sounds of a very high sample rate, so you may need to "downgrade" the sound to good old CD-quality before you can use it.
To do this, you can use a free audio conversion program called SRCDrop from here: http://www.rarewares.org/others.php#srcdrop. Download, unpack and run the program. You'll see a little window with a sound wave displayed in it. Right-click in this window and choose "SRC resampling options" and you'll see a window with various settings. Set "Output BitWitdth" to "16-bit PCM", and click Accept. Now, just drag and drop any 24-bit sound files into this little window, and they will quickly be converted to 16-bit. There are also other options such as converting from 96000 Hz to 48000 Hz frequency or 44100 Hz, and various options for automatically adding things to the filename etc.
Credits purchased on our site never expire. We feel that's part of what makes our site better than much of our competition. On many other sites (famous stock photo sites, stock footage sites and stock audio sites) your Credits actually expire after one year. If you haven't used the credits in this time, they are simply deleted from your account. But here at 1SoundFX.com your credits never expire. They are yours for life.
No, but we feel that our Credits system replaces the need for any Subscription based option. If you want the freedom of just coming to our site and downloading any sound you need, any time, then just buy, say, 200 Credits! With a large amount of Credits on your account, you can just come in and pick sounds that you want any time, without having to go through a payment process each time.
With a Subscription model, you're paying even when you're not downloading anything. Our Credits system combines the ease of not having to make payment each time, whilst also not paying for any service that you aren't always using. For example, $699 will buy you 1,000 Credits. That should pretty much last you for life. And if there is a period of, say, 6 months when you're not buying any sounds, then you aren't paying anything either. Your credits are left untouched until you come back and start downloading sounds again.
Unfortunately, we cannot help you with this. We just sell you the sound files. The sounds come as WAV files which is the most commonly used sound file format in the world. The sounds can easily be converted from WAV to MP3 (Google search "WAV to MP3") and the sounds can be used as ringtones with all mobile devices / cell phones / mobile phones. However, with thousands of phone models available, we cannot give you instructions on how to install a sound as a ringtone on your phone. Please refer to the instruction booklet that came with your phone or mobile device, or ask for help where you bought the device.
After licensing a sound file from this website, you may use this sound file within your own project; such as a video, film, video game, multimedia presentation, slideshow, website, Flash animation, info-kiosk, and other audio-visual projects. You may not re-distribute the sounds by themselves. You may not post the sounds for download from a website, forum, FTP site or similar.
You may make a backup copy of the sounds for your own use and for use within your company. You may however not copy, lend, hire, or re-sell the sounds to any other person or company. You may change the sounds as you wish by processing them, layering them, mixing, cutting, chopping, warping, morphing, and so on, and use the resulting sound in your projects. You may however not re-sell or license out the resulting sound files, because they are based on our raw material and as such, they are partly ours. The ownership of the sounds remain with the original copyright owners, even after you buy them.
You are really Licensing the sounds, not buying them. You are obtaining a License to use the sounds, as much as you want, in as many different projects as you want, forever. The license lasts in Perpetuity, which in plain language means forever.

"Your sound files AND your service are exceptional. To be honest, given the low cost of your files, I was a little dubious ordering. I could not have been more wrong. The tracks are all top quality and very obviously professionally engineered. Then when I had a (user created) challenge, you went way beyond the call of duty to assist. Thank you and I wish you the success you deserve." - David Wilks, tradersinspiration.com
"I came across your sites Shockwave-Sound.com and 1SoundFX.com while researching sounds for my iPhone applications.
